How is it that Paris never looses it's luster? Stepping outside after a long day in an office and seeing a sunset like this is a perfect transition from day to night. The lighting makes you run for your camera.

Darren Almond. Check it out.
It's hard make a much more technically beautiful photograph than this:
Darren Almond, Fullmoon@Eifel 2
The artist has been working on this series for a while and uses a long exposure and available light from a full moon.

A day in the park with Izzy and Ethan
The last time I photographed Izzy she was a year younger and Ethan wasn't born yet. Spending the day with them in the park recently was great fun. There are few things better in life for me than watching friend's children grow up- and mirror the expressions of their parents!

Rineke Djikstra's new show at Marian Goodman Gallery, NY
One of my favorite artist's specializing in portraiture has a new show of videos at Marian Goodman Gallery in New York. The interactive nature to this show should be very appealing to all viewers. This article in the NYT weekend section delivers a good write up: A Return to Video Is Moving
David Goldblatt at the Jewish Museum through September 19, 2010
South African Photographs: David Goldblatt
Goldblatt's image used on the exhibition website is an obvious comparison to Robert Frank's iconic image "Charleston, South Carolina, 1955". Each photograph was taken less than 10 years apart in different parts of the world, but convey the same social sentiment.

Exposed: Voyeurism, Surveillance and the Camera Since 1870
The synopsis on this show has me very excited to check it out. Maybe it's because these are the type of pictures I like to take!

What makes a good photograph?
In a world filled with an over saturation of images, and more people everyday entering the business because of the accessibility of digital photography, this is an important question to ask. My hope through this blog is to post some of my own work which lives up to this statement. I will try not to over saturate my own market but instead post a well curated group. Working at Christie's auction house has taught me not only about good artwork but strong presentation. I try and bring this knowledge and experience to my own work. Let me know what you think!
